Alma by Bloom

In an earlier post I referred to Alma (collapsible mini crib or bassinet) that was in bloom at Bloom Baby. The much anticipated Alma is finally here!

Designed for urban spaces, elevated living, co-sleeping & grandparent/second homes, Alma is suitable from newborn to 2 years. It's patented, no-tools-required rapid assembly, compact-fold construction and lockable castors make for easy storage and transport. The 2 position, adjustable mattress platform accomodates a growing baby from bassinett to crib. Alma comes in two colours: a bold and beautiful gala green and a soft and subtle coconut white.

Every bloom product exceeds all applicable safety standards and regulations. Bloom proactively minimizes the use of harmful chemicals and processes in their products and manufacturing. The Alma Cot/Crib is made with solid birch wood sourced from sustainable sources and it has a low VOC finish. All bloom products are independently tested and certified to be lead free, phthalate free, PVC free, heavy metal free, and AZO dye free.

When I first saw this crib, I thought "where were you seven months ago" when I was out buying cribs for my twins. I'm at a point with my 7 month old twin girls where they don't "sleep like a baby" so much anymore. They wake easily. I find myself contemplating how on earth I get these girls to co-habitate when one wakes up at night and the other doesn't. It would be nice to have an easily collapsible crib to even try putting one of the girls in another room as a temporary fix. Just the thought of disassembling one of their cribs and putting it back together again in another room just to "see" is daunting. I've tried putting the "displaced" twin in a playpen in another room but I find that the playpen is uncomfortable and makes her feel just that - "displaced" and somehow "condemned" to the other room because she's not in her usual crib.

Bloom does not use polycarbonate in food access areas of its products and use higher quality FDA-approved food-contact grade plastics on food contact surfaces. Bloom wooden products are free of wood PCP and other toxic wood preservatives, fiberboard (MDF) free, use formaldehyde free adhesive, low voc finishes and originate from certified sustainable beech and birch wood forests. Bloom prohibits the use of wood from intact natural forests, high conservation value forests, protected areas, and high value tropical wood species.
